No more novellas!

Hi All,

I just did a word count on my last post and discovered that there were 11 000+ words! I am delivering a small novella into your inboxes every week and no doubt some of you are ticking “like” rather than reading these posts which is totally NOT what I am aiming for. I just want to share what we are doing and what is happening and where my mind is wandering. I guess you are all starting to see that my mind might just need as much exersise as my poor long suffering body is getting lately. I might start posting mid week. Who couldn’t use a “Hump day” post to keep them mentally nourished in the lean mid section of the week…Thankyou all for bearing with me while I iron out my mental need to explode onto a page. I will try to pare my posts down and try to remember some of what I learned years ago when I was training to be an English teacher. I figure they should be paying me NOT to be a teacher…can you imagine how long it would take to copy anything that I wrote down on the board?! Have a great rest of the weekend and I might just see you on Wednesday…

A most contrite Fran

Lol! I thought you were getting me to look at my own Facebook page then…very wise words from people who live close to nature. There is nothing like paring back everything and living simply to give you a true sense of what is worth it and what isn’t. Cheers for this link Roz, a great find and wonderful wise words

Hi Fran My dear old mum has been to New Mexico (20 Years ago) and stayed in one of those houses made out of mud and tyres. She has a book all about how to make them and for years she desperatly wanted to build one. I will borrow the book from her if you like and you can read all about it. She also has some photos of the houses in new Mexico. Looks amazing all of the work that you guys have been doing.

    Love Nat

Your mum is a true old hippy isn’t she! She probably had a bit of a fling with that earthship designer while she was over there! I would love to have a look at her book Nat, cheers for the thought. We have been slaving for the man…not quite sure who the man is, but we have been slaving for him anyway. We are really knocking out the blackberries, boneseed and weeds and trying to get as many of our plants into the ground as we can. We have now become very pragmatic about what we can and can’t grow here and if you know of anyone who would like a couple of Pierre de Ronsard roses (to save them from extinction from possum predation) let me know and they can have them. We are weeding out what will and won’t work here and learning a lot about our property in the process. I am serious about the roses by the way…they are just possum fodder here. The possums will leave them for ages till you think that they are safe or the possums have moved out and suddenly you come out to bare stems with no leaves on…possum attack again! Let us know before Thursday and we can bring them in with us if you can rehouse them. See you thursday morning. We will also bring James a Brachychiton discolor for his collection.
